About Express Commercial Cleaning
Winner of the 2025 Best Places to Work by the Round Rock Chamber, our story begins with a simple belief: people thrive when they feel seen, supported, and inspired. What started as a janitorial services company has grown into a community built on trust, opportunity, and a deep respect for the individuals who make our work meaningful every day.
We believe great buildings deserve exceptional care. For nearly two decades, we’ve partnered with property managers, facility leaders, and building owners across Central Texas to keep their spaces clean, healthy, and welcoming. From office campuses, multi-tenant offices, medical facilities to industrial spaces and commercial buildings, our team takes pride in helping workplaces shine.
We’re a people-first organization built on an Owner’s Mindset, kindness, transparency, and helpfulness. Our team believes every role contributes to the bigger mission of making buildings better places to work. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for talented professionals who want to help build something special while growing their careers alongside us.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a detail-loving, numbers-savvy Staff Accountant who enjoys turning financial data into meaningful insights that help a business grow. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on organization, enjoys improving processes, and wants to have a real impact inside a fast-growing service company.
You won’t just be “doing accounting.” You’ll help ensure our financial systems are accurate, our billing is seamless, and our leadership team has the information they need to make smart decisions. You’ll also mentor and guide an Accounting Assistant while helping strengthen the accounting department as we continue to scale.
One of the most exciting aspects of this role will be helping lead the transition from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, modernizing our systems and improving reporting visibility across the company.
If you love clean numbers, efficient systems, and a company culture where people genuinely enjoy working together, this might be the perfect fit.
What You’ll Do
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records while helping the accounting department operate efficiently.
A major responsibility of the role is leading the monthly close process, reconciling general ledger accounts, bank and credit card statements, ensuring financials are accurate and completed within our goal of an 8-day close cycle. This includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, reviewing financial activity, and preparing monthly financial reports for leadership.
You’ll also oversee the monthly billing process, ensuring invoices accurately reflect customer contracts, services provided, and any special project work. Because billing in a service company is closely tied to operations, this role works collaboratively with operations managers to confirm all services are captured correctly as well as managing the company’s assets.
The Staff Accountant supervises and mentors the Accounting Assistant, helping ensure day-to-day accounting tasks are performed accurately and efficiently while supporting their professional growth. You’ll oversee all aspects of the AP/AR functions to ensure accuracy. You’ll be trusted with sales tax reporting and remitting in a timely manner as well as maintaining our insurance policies compliant, updated, and submitted to clients as requested and needed annually, staying up to date with changes and reviewing for accuracy.
You will also monitor key financial and accounting performance indicators such as accounts receivable aging, revenue performance, and billing accuracy. By analyzing trends and identifying opportunities for improvement, you’ll help leadership make informed decisions.
Finally, this role supports important initiatives like improving workflows, strengthening internal financial controls, and helping guide our transition to QuickBooks Online. Writing SOPs for the department will be paramount.
A Day in the Life of This Role
Every day in this role brings a mix of analytical work, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Your morning might start with reviewing the previous day’s financial activity, checking accounts receivable updates, and responding to a few billing questions from the operations team. You may meet briefly with the Accounting Assistant to review priorities for the day and ensure invoices and accounts payable transactions are being processed accurately.
Later in the morning, you could be reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, or reviewing financial data to ensure everything is ready for the monthly close process.
Afternoons often involve collaboration. You might work with the operations team to confirm billing for a new cleaning contract, analyze revenue trends across buildings, or review customer account details to resolve discrepancies.
Some days you’ll be preparing monthly financial reports or reviewing KPIs with leadership. Other days you might focus on process improvements, documentation, or helping move the company forward with our QuickBooks Online migration project.
Throughout it all, you’ll be working closely with leadership, helping ensure the financial foundation of the company remains strong as we continue to grow.
